For the curious, Sheikh Rehana Siddiq, is the younger daughter of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who is widely known as the “father of Bangladesh,” and Sheikh Fazilatun Necha Mujib.
Born on September 13, 1955, Sheikh Rehana Siddiq, is the younger sister of Sheikh Hasina. Rehana was born in Tungipara, Gopalganj.
Let us remind you, on August 15, 1975, during an assassination attack Rahman and his family got killed.
However, a few days before the assassination, Sheikh Rehana Siddiq and Sheikh Hasina, went to Germany to visit Hasina’s husband, M.A. Wazed Miah, resulting the two sisters, survived the unfortunate tragedy.

After the tragic assassination, the two sisters took political asylum in India. Later, Sheikh Hasina, moved to London with her family.
However, she returned to Bangladesh I’m 1981 and took the helm of the Awami League. Meanwhile, her sister, Sheikh Rehana Siddiq, although not active in politics, has been an avid support and the spirit of the liberation war and the movement alongside her sister.
Sheikh Rehana Siddiq, has often seen by her sister’s side during every crisis of the Awami League and even played an important role in forming public opinion abroad to demand justice for their father’s murder.
Husband and Children
Sheikh Rehana, is married to a professor, Shafique Ahmed Siddiq. The couple has three children. Their eldest daughter, Tulip Siddiq, is a member of the British Parliament for the Labour Party.
Meanwhile, their son, Radwan Mujib Siddiq, works in an international organization in Dhaka. Additionally, he also plays an active role in the activities of the Awami League’s research institute, CRI.
Their youngest daughter, Azmina Siddiq, is the global risk analysis editor at Control Risks in London.

On the other hand, Sheikh Rehana Siddiq’s eldest sister, Sheikh Hasina, born on September 28, 1947, is the longest-serving PM in the history of Bangladesh, having served the country for over 20 years, from June 1996 to July 2001 and again from January 2009 to August 2024.
Before being overthrown in August 2024, Sheikh Hasina, was the world’s longest-serving female head of the government. During her longest-serving period as a Prime Minister, the politician has survived a total of 19 assassination attempts.
As a result of assassination injuries that she sustained during 2004 grenade attack, she suffers from a hearing impairment.
