Daniel Levy speaks out his stance on selling Spurs
Back in 2023, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy spoke about his stance on selling the club. The 62-year-old, who is renowned as one of the toughest negotiators in the sport, admitted that he would take it under consideration if anyone made a serious offer. As such, the recent rumours surrounding Sheikh Abdullah could simply be brushed off. He stated:
I’ve got no real interest to leave Tottenham, but I have a duty to consider anything that anyone may want to propose. It’s not about me, it’s about what’s right for the club. We have 30,000 shareholders who own approximately 13.5 per cent. We run this club as if it is a public company. If anyone wants to make serious propositions to the board of Tottenham, we will consider it along with our advisors. And if we felt it was in the interests of the club, we would be open to anything.”
Tottenham takeover candidates
While there is no clear indication of Sheikh Abdullah wanting to buy Tottenham, there are several other interested candidates. According to reports, Sheikh Jassim, whose £5bn offer for Manchester United got turned down by the Glazer family, could make a bid to buy the London club. Iranian Jahm Najafi, the chairman of MSP Sports, is also a notable candidate with ties to several teams across Europe. Najafi also owns a minority stake in NBA team the Phoenix Suns and could spend over £3bn for Tottenham.
