Shayna Baker passes away
Just recently, on Sunday, March 10, 2024, an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) student named Shayna Baker, passed away following a single-vehicle accident in Collierson. According to reports, the cars crash took place early Sunday morning.
Richard Beatty, the Brooke County Sheriff stated that authorities first responded to a call of a crash at around 4 am along Harmon Creek Road. Upon arriving at the scene, they found a single occupant in the vehicle, who died on at the scene. According to official reports, Baker was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Shayna Baker was an EMS student at Murrysville Medic One, who also worked as a full-time EMT. She was reportedly set to graduate from paramedic training later this year. Murrysville Medic One is an EMS unit in Pennsylvania that provides primary Emergency Medical Services to residents and visitors of Murrysville and the Borough of Export.
Tributes come pouring in
Shortly after the news of the tragic crash went viral, Murrysville Medic One stated:
It is with great sadness we announce EMT/Paramedic Student Shayna Baker tragically lost her life this morning in a motor vehicle accident. Shayna was a full-time EMT with us while attending.”
The post further added:
Paramedic training and was scheduled to graduate this year. Shayna had a lot of dedication and truly cared for her patients. Shayna will be missed by all of her family, friends, and co-workers. Her family and friends will be in our thoughts and prayers.”
Gina Marie, who is an Emergency Department Registered Nurse at Upmc East Hospital, also wrote:
Sending many love and prayers to her and her family. She was a sweet girl.”
Kelly Anderson, who is a Billing Manager/Human Resources Director at Oklahoma-Vandergrift-C&S shared:
How very sad for all of her family, friends, and her MM1 workfamily! Sending out love, condolences and comfort to all of you!”
Michael Puskarich who is a community member, also added:
