Sepoy Harkrishan Singh, a 26-year-old soldier from Talwandi Bharth village in Batala, Punjab, was the sole breadwinner of his family. He was tragically killed in a terror attack on April 20th in Poonch, Jammu, and Kashmir, along with four other jawans. Harkrishan Singh, a fourth-generation soldier in his family, is survived by his wife Daljeet Kaur, and their two-year-old daughter.
Harkrishan Singh belonged to the 49th Battalion of the Rashtriya Rifles and had a deep sense of pride in serving his country. His father, Mangal Singh, expressed his pride in Harkrishan Singh’s sacrifice for the motherland.
The last conversation between father and son was a video call around 12:00 pm on the day of the attack. Harkrishan Singh had asked his father if he had eaten, cracking jokes as usual. Little did they know it would be their last conversation.
Harkrishan Singh’s mother, Pyar Kaur is devastated too. The attack in Poonch, where Harkrishan Singh and his fellow jawans were martyred has left people in shock. Despite the challenges and risks, Harkrishan Singh remained committed to his duty and made the ultimate sacrifice in service to his nation.
The entire village of Talwandi Bharth has come together to support Harkrishan Singh’s grieving family. Many have expressed their condolences and offered assistance in any way possible. The sacrifices made by soldiers like Harkrishan Singh are deeply respected and honored in the community.
The nation also mourns the loss of his fellow jawans who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
