A devastating triple train collision in Balasore, Odisha, has resulted in a staggering toll of nearly 300 casualties and over 900 injuries. Many coaches overturned as the Coromandel Shalimar Express, a passenger train traveling to Chennai, derailed and collided with a cargo train.

On June 4, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw revealed to the media that an investigation into the horrible train disaster that killed at least 275 people in Balasore, Odisha, had been concluded.

Vaishnaw said that once the Commissioner of Railway Safety submits his report, the public will be informed of all the relevant information. He made reference to the fact that the culprits behind this unfortunate tragedy have been found, but he withheld any additional information until the report had been made public.

He is currently posted as an assistant station master at Bahanaga Bazar station in Odisha. As the official details are eagerly anticipated, numerous individuals on social media have embarked on their own investigations, leading to the proliferation of conspiracy theories and misinformation.

In one of these posts, it was said that Mohammed Sharif, the station master, a Muslim man, had fled the scene of the disaster. To clarify the situation, BOOM, a fact-checking organization, reached out to Aditya Kumar Chaudhary, the Chief Public Relations Officer of the South Eastern Railway.

According to Chaudhary, SB Mohanty is the assistant station master at Bahanaga Bazar, not “Sharif Ali” as claimed on social media. Additionally, Chaudhary refuted the untrue claim made by a news organization that Mohanty had fled the scene.
