Savannah Craven Antao, 23, was reporting in Harlem for the pro-life advocacy group Live Action when the incident occurred in New York City. Planned Parenthood and pro-abortion were the main topics of discussion.
The group shared a video of the altercation, which showed a polite discussion quickly degenerating into violence.
In Harlem on Thursday, Savannah Craven Antao, a 23-year-old reporter and pro-life activist with the advocacy group Live Action, was holding a man-on-the-street interview with an unnamed pro-abortion New Yorker about Planned Parenthood.
According to pictures the journalist posted on social media, she suffered a cut on her forehead and brow that caused blood to flow down her face and chest.
Craven Antao further disclosed that she needed stitches for the gash and needed medical care at a nearby hospital.
“Pro-life journalist @savannahacraven was violently attacked by a pro-abortion advocate in New York City. Savannah was working with @liveactionorg conducting man in the street interviews, asking passersby ‘Do you know what Planned Parenthood does?’,” Live Action said.
“While initially friendly, the woman being interviewing became violent after discovering Savannah was pro-life—and began punching her in the face. Savannah was taken to the ER for treatment and stitches. The assailant has yet to be found by authorities,” it added.
Henry Antao, her husband, told Live Action, “My wife… was assaulted by a pro-abortion woman we were interviewing.” “When the women found out that Savannah supported life, they became violent and aggressive.”
He claimed to have contacted 911 and given the NYPD a description and pictures of the attacker, who is still at large.
Earlier in the street interview, the accused attacker shouted, “F*ck the police,” and that it is better to murder a child than to place a child in foster care.
Following the horrific attack, Craven Antao updated her worried fans on social media and slammed her attacker’s face. While the name of the attacker hasn’t been officially released yet, social media users claim she is Brianna J Rivers.
Reactions of netizens
Many people demanded harsh measures against the woman after the video caused a massive response. “Tell me she has been arrested and charged!!” someone posted. “Violence has no place in any debate, especially one as important as this,” said another.
A third expressed, “Anger management is not her strong suit, I mean that was a benign conversation to result in punching.” A fourth wrote, “Tolerance, respect, and anger control are below zero with some people.”
Lila Rose, the founder of Live Action, revealed on X that Craven was hospitalized following a blow to the face. She commended the reporter for going to a demonstration despite being assaulted in a different post.
