Amnesty International has claimed that a teenage girl named Sarina Esmailzadeh perished in Iran’s demonstrations. However, Iranian authorities rejected this claim and said that she died of suicide.
But Iranian activists dispute the official claim and assert that the 16-year-old was murdered by security agents.
The human rights organization claims that she passed away on September 23 as a result of being struck by security personnel using batons.
Since the news of her death went public, it went viral on various social media platforms with many people expressing their solidarity with the girl and ongoing anti-hijab protests in Iran. So, let’s find out more about her:
Who Was Sarina Esmailzadeh?
Sarina Esmailzadeh was an Iranian YouTuber. She has been in the news because she died recently allegedly for participating in ongoing anti-hijab protests, by security forces.
She was a famous Youtuber who often posted videos on her youtube account about hardships that her country is currently facing. The well-known teenage YouTuber has uploaded videos of herself performing Western tunes and talking about topics like women’s rights and Iran’s economic woes.
She was just 16 years old when she died.
The state media released a video showing Sarina’s mother (now disputed by people who say she is not her mother but an actor) denying that her daughter was killed in the protests and saying she had a history of attempting suicide in what appeared to be an interview in which a reporter tried to lead her with his questions.
The 16-year-old YouTuber died on the way to hospital after being severely beaten in the head with batons at while protesting the killing of Mahsa Amini and had joined a protest in Karaj, a large city half an hour from the capital Tehran, on September 21.
How Did She Die?
Iranian YouTuber Sarina Esmailzadeh was murdered by Iran’s security services. They are suspected of killing a teenage YouTuber girl in a beating during anti-dictatorship demonstrations.
However, the hardline administration believes that she committed suicide by jumping from a roof. They alleged that she had a history of attempting suicide because she was mentally unstable.
But sources claim that Esmailzadeh was present at one of the several demonstrations in Karaj over the murder of a young Iranian woman Mahsa Amini who had been tortured by Iran’s Morality Police the week before her death for disobeying the Tehran Hijab legislation and was allegedly struck with batons on September 21.
Amnesty International claims that Sarina Esmailzadeh was struck with batons on September 23 during a demonstration in the Alborz region of Gohardasht.
In a statement it acquired from a primary source, Amnesty International said that Esmailzadeh’s relatives had been the target of “intense harassment” meant to intimidate them into silence. But officials in Iran refuted these allegations.
