Israeli Embassy staffer Sarah Milgrim worked on peace building between Israelis and Palestinians; before she was gunned down by a Palestine activist.

Milgrim was killed alongside her boyfriend, Yaron Lischinsky, after the two were just leaving a young diplomat’s event celebrating Jewish heritage.

Sarah Milgrim was a young American citizen who was just 26-years-old at the time of her death. Milgrim was a young and vibrant woman who was dedicated towards making a change. Sarah had deep roots in Jewish education and international affairs, and she had a profound connection to Israel. She seemingly devoted her career towards building bridges between cultures, faiths, and nations.
Education
Sarah Milgrim graduated from the University of Kansas back in 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and a minor in anthropology. Following which she earned a master’s degree in international affairs from American University in 2023. Sarah also held a certificate in religious engagement and peacebuilding which she obtained from the United States Institute of Peace.
Profession and career
Sarah Milgrim worked professionally in the Israeli Embassy’s public diplomacy department. She mainly organized educational visits and official missions to Israel and had also previously worked in Tel Aviv with Tech2Peace, which is an initiative that combines high-tech training with conflict dialogue for young Israelis as well as Palestinians.

Following her tragic death, tributes came pouring in from colleagues, friends, and international leaders. One of Sarah’s friends, Jennifer Laszlo Mizrahi, who is the co-founder of the Mizrahi Family Charitable Fund, shared how Sarah Milgrim was “a young, passionate, and brilliant environmental advocate” who was “deeply committed to building a more peaceful and sustainable world.”
She further added:
Her leadership shone through—bright, compassionate, and determined.”
Sarah Milgrim had an Instagram account set to private with the handle @sarah_milgrim, where she has about 1,366 followers and 297 posts. She had a yellow ribbon on her bio, in solidarity with Israeli hostages and a quote from Deuteronomy in Hebrew: “Justice, justice you shall pursue.”
