In the Crimson Tide’s most important game of the season, Sarah Ashlee Barker was outstanding, scoring a program-high 45 points and making 17 of her 25 shots. After being fouled on a game-tying 3-point attempt, she calmly swished three consecutive free throws with 0.7 seconds left to force a second OT, but no points were greater or more pressured than that.

She is the daughter of Jay Barker and Amy Barker Rozell and has three brothers Andrew, Braxton and Harrison. Her brother Braxton is an offensive graduate assistant at Alabama, while her other brother Harrison is a senior quarterback at UAB and she is majoring in health and physical education at the University of Alabama.

Sarah Ashlee Barker is the daughter of Jay Barker, who played quarterback for coach Gene Stallings’ Alabama squad that won the 1992 national title. He was placed fifth in the Heisman Trophy vote as a senior in 1994 and received the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, which is given yearly to the best upperclassman quarterback in college football.
Before spending time with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League and the Birmingham Thunderbolts of the doomed XFL, Barker played two seasons in the NFL with the Green Bay Packers, New England Patriots, and Carolina Panthers.
It was her mother who asked Sarah if she’d sign up for 6-year-old YMCA basketball and she and her twin brother played together for years after that in co-ed.

She emerged to prominence at Spain Park, where she guided her team to two state titles and her talent and leadership on the court earned her the prestigious title of Alabama’s Miss Basketball for 2020.
After spending her first two collegiate seasons with the Georgia Bulldogs, Barker opted to transfer to Tuscaloosa and followed in her family’s path.
Sarah Ashlee Barker who is a native of Birmingham, Alabama, did everything she could to assist her team get to her hometown for the Sweet 16, where it would have faced the defending national champion South Carolina, even though her team lost in the end and gave away a 17-point lead in the third quarter.
Sarah Ashlee Barker was the star of the show in what was the second-highest scoring game in NCAA Tournament history, as the two teams combined for 219 points. Her 45 points placed her fourth all-time in NCAA Tournament single-game history.

Despite all of her accomplishments in college, Barker is not yet included in any of the major sites’ 2025 WNBA mock drafts.
