Misra, who was born on 23 October, 1959 in Cuttack, defeated Braja Kishore Tripathy, the Union Minister at the time, to start his parliamentary career in 1996. Misra, a Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of India, has nearly thirty years of distinguished legal and political experience with him being a four time MP from Puri.
In 2019 he contested and won 17th Lok Sabha elections from from Puri odisha, where he defeated Dr.Sambit Patra of BJP by a margin of over 10,000 votes.
Pinaki Misra was born to Shri Lokanath Misra and Smt. Binapani Misra in Cuttack (Odisha).
Pinaki Misra has an LL.B. from the University of Delhi’s Faculty of Law and a B.A. (Hons) in History from St. Stephen’s College in Delhi. His former spouse was Sangita Misra and the couple had two kids a son and a daughter.
On 16 January, 1984, Misra married Sangita Misra, but they later got divorced, and they have two children together, a son and daughter. While not much is not known about Sangita, she is aged between 60-70 years while her ex-husband Pinaki is aged 65.
He is currently married to Mahua Moitra, his second wife, a West Bengali TMC MP from Krishnanagar.
