Lamont Butler has been a major contributor to making the Final Four so far a fitting end to March Madness, for his side.

Both the first Elite Eight without a 1 seed and the second 16-vs -1 shock was incredible first for the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

Reggie Miller attended the same secondary school as him

Butler is a native of Moreno Valley, California, and attended Riverside (Calif.) Poly High School, where NBA Hall of Famer Reggie Miller also attended.

Butler received four basketball honours while playing for Bears coach Yancy Dodson. The team won 91 games during his basketball tenure, including a 27-7 record and 12-0 Ivy League record in his senior season in 2019–20.

More remarkably, according to his SDSU bio, he outperformed Miller to surpass 1,800 career points to become the school’s all-time leading scorer. He also assisted in 559 burglaries and 271 thefts. His career field percentage was 43.2 per cent. (642 out of 1,485).

Lamont Butler recruit rankings

Butler was ranked as a three-star prospect for the 2020 recruiting class by the 247Sports Composite rankings.

He was rated as the No. 243 overall ability in his class, the No. 30 player in California, and the No. 40 point guard.

According to his 247Sports bio, he got 15 scholarship offers after high school, the majority coming from California Division I universities, but also from Washington, Boise State, Harvard, Colorado, Montana, Rice, and Weber State.

Lamont Butler’s parents are father Lamont Sr and mother Carmicha Butler, who raised the budding hooper in Riverside, California after having him in 2002 and his parents are high school sweethearts who had four children together, Lamont and his four older sisters.

Lamont Butler’s sister, Asasha Lache Hall, was shot and killed in January 2022. The 20 year old has a height of 6 feet 2 inches.
