Sa’Myah Smith is a forward for the LSU Tigers. The freshman comes from DeSoto, Texas. According to ESPN, Smith, who went to DeSoto High School, is ranked No. 1 in Dallas and No. 57 overall. She led them to back-to-back Texas Class 6A State Championships during her junior and senior years.
The freshman was one of the 10 finalists for Dave Campbell’s Miss Texas Basketball Player of the Year Award. She was named the Dallas Morning’s New Player of the Year in 2022. Smith had a double-double of 10 points and 15 rebounds in the 2021 State Championship Game to earn MVP honours.
Sa’Myah Smith was chosen to represent the SEC’s freshmen team. She played in all 36 games for the Tigers as the first forward off the bench for LSU. She had a 4.6 point and 4.0 rebound average in two starts. She concluded the season with 38 blocks in addition to posting the only double-double of her freshman year against Bellarmine with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
