The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar is deeply saddened by the unexpected passing of Samridhi Gupta, a final-year student in the Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) department.

Hailing from Bakshi Nagar area of Jammu, Samridhi was a 7th Semester student from the ECE 2020 Batch and was in her final year. While her DOB isn’t known, she was aged between 20-22 years.

Local media reports indicate that Samridhi succumbed to a cardiac arrest on Monday. The Institute expressed its heartfelt condolences for the loss, with Prof. A. Ravinder Nath, the Director of NIT Srinagar, expressing profound sorrow and describing Samridhi’s demise as truly heartbreaking.
In an official statement, he extended sympathies to the grieving family, hoping they find the strength to endure this difficult period. Prof. Nath assured the family that NIT Srinagar stands united with them during this time of sorrow.
In his statement, Prof. Nath stated “During this difficult period, may the family find the strength and resilience needed to navigate through the profound grief. NIT Srinagar stands united with them in these times of sorrow.”
Prof. Aatikur Rehman, the institute’s registrar, echoed the sentiments of deep sorrow and condolences. He acknowledged the lasting impact Samridhi had on the NIT Srinagar community and pledged support for her family and friends as they navigate through this challenging period.
Tributes Poured In
As reported in Greater Kashmir, Professor Rehman expressed, “Samridhi’s impact was profound, and her absence is keenly felt by the entire NIT Srinagar community.”
He further added, “We stand by her family and friends, providing comfort and strength as they endure this difficult period of sorrow. May her soul find eternal peace.”
Dr. Gausia Qazi, the head of the ECE Department, expressed the profound sadness of the entire department and Samridhi’s classmates. She emphasized their solidarity with the bereaved family during this challenging time.
Dr. Qazi remembered Samridhi as a highly disciplined student with a good nature, and her sudden departure has left a significant void.
“Samridhi possessed a commendable character and demonstrated exemplary discipline as a student. Her unexpected departure creates a profound emptiness. Our heartfelt sympathies reach out to the grieving family, and we offer our prayers for comfort and tranquility for her soul,” Dr. Qazi remarked.
