Samoan batter Darius Visser recently broke a record during the T20 World Cup 2026 qualifiers match against Vanuatu. The match took place at the Garden Oval No.2 in Apia. Visser managed to go past the current world record for the most runs scored by a batter in a single over in T20I history. Darius scored an impressive 39 runs in an over, beating the previous joint record shared by Kieron Pollard, Yuvraj Singh, and Dipendra Singh Airee. The previous record was 36 runs in an over.

Darius Visser managed to smash six sixes in the 15th over, along with another three runs to reach 39 runs. At the end of the 14th over, Samoa was set at 77/5, but Visser helped set it to 116/5. He went on to play a splendid innings of 132 off 62 balls, which included 5 fours and 14 sixes. Darius registered an impressive strike rate of 212.90 and emerged as the only player who performed for the team. The rest of the batters seemingly failed to step up for the team as the second-best score was just 16 runs by skipper Caleb Jasmat.

Darius Visser started out playing cricket for St. George District and the Sydney University in Sydney grade cricket. Although Visser hails from Sydney, Australia, he opted to play for Samoa in international cricket. Darius Visser currently works as a Director of Hype Cricket Academy. The academy provides developmental programs to professional cricketers from England and Australia.

Over the years, Visser has worked with stars like Harry Brook, Jason Sangha, Josh Dell and many more. Darius previously worked as a specialist coach at the New South Wales Cricket. He also served as the first team cricket coach for the Sydney Boys’ High School. Aside from all these, he also plays for the Samoa national cricket team. Aside from recently setting the new record, Darius Visser also scored a century in T20I, becoming the first ever Samoan cricketer to do so.
