Samantha Suarez, who was a makeup artist on the ‘Below Deck’ show and her then boyfriend, camera operator Grey Duddleston, have filed a lawsuit against Gary King, Bravo, and NBCUniversal in Los Angeles Superior Court.
According to the suit, Gary King, while intoxicated, invited Suarez into his hotel room and attempted to prevent her from leaving on July 3, 2022. While trying to flee the room, he allegedly grabbed her arms and blocked the door, stopping her from leaving. King reportedly released her only after another crew member called out for her. Suarez went out to report the incident immediately, which triggered an internal investigation. Showrunner Courtland Cox informed Suarez that King was sorry for his actions and assured to fire him if he repeated them.

Allegations against Gary King
Samantha Suarez initially joined the Below Deck Sailing Yacht production team back in 2022. She alleged that while working there, she once assisted a drunk Gary King back to his hotel. However, King forcibly pressed against her and prevented her from leaving. She finally managed to escape and immediately reported the incident to Bravo Network. Despite conducting an investigation over Suarez’s complaint, they did not fire King.
The network simply released a statement stating that “action was taken based on the findings.” King later came out on Instagram to dismiss Suarez’s allegations and claimed that she “wanted a platform.” Moreover, despite the allegations and public outcry, King returned on season 5 of the show while Samantha Suarez was fired.
King stated on Instagram:
Sad to see this has all been edited out of tonight’s episode. Scary how one person’s lies can ruin someone’s career and livelihood […] most of me will probably be edited out of this season.”
