Samantha Kuffel fired
Several staff members at WDJT-TV (Channel 58) recently received emails on Wednesday that meteorologist Sam Kuffel had been let go. Kuffel went viral after criticizing Elon Musk for his straight-arm gesture that resembled a Nazi salute. Following the firing, Channel 58 website removed Kuffel’s biography and picture by Wednesday afternoon.
Kuffel posted two Instagram posts the previous day, citing Musk’s gesture during a speech at a President Donald Trump inauguration event. In one of the posts, Kuffel posted a picture of Musk on her personal Instagram account with a comment:
Dude Nazi saluted twice. TWICE. During the inauguration. You (expletive) with this and this man, I don’t (expletive) with you. Full stop.”
Kuffel also posted a GIF from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” on Instagram alongside the post:
Screw that old (expletive). He’s a Nazi.”
The Anti-Defamation League, which is an antisemitism and human rights watchdog, called Elon Musk’s actions an “awkward gesture”. The group also urged caution towards netizens towards jumping to any conclusions. Moreover, other extremism monitors and experts also pointed out how it was unclear what Musk was trying to convey to the crowd of Trump’s supporters with his arm thrust action. The Tesla CEO and world’s richest man further added to the speculations by not completely denying all the claims against him.

Samantha Kuffel who hails from the Wausau-Stevens Point Area in Milwaukee is an American meteorologist who recently got fired from her job for criticizing Elon Musk. Kuffel, who is currently 31 years old, was a weather reporter at CBS 58. According to her LinkedIn page, Kuffel joined Channel 58 back in 2019 after previously working at WAOW-TV (Channel 9). Aside from that, the popular local weather forecaster also worked on the all sports radio station WRNW-FM (97.3).
