While authorities have not identified the body, they suspect that the headless torso belongs to Haskellโs missing wife, Mei Haskell.

According to various reports, Samuel Haskell IV hails from Tarzana, Los Angeles, and he is currently 35 years old. Samuel is the son of Samuel Haskell III and Mary Donnelly-Haskell. Authorities speak out about the incident
Following the news about the arrest, authorities on Wednesday revealed the details about the incident. According to authorities, a homeless man first discovered the headless torso wrapped in a plastic bag. The homeless man was digging in the dumpster located at a strip mall near Ventura Boulevard and Rubio Avenue when he found the torso. A surveillance video of the area reportedly showed a vehicle driving away from the plaza. Upon further investigations, authorities identified it as Samuel Haskellโs car, following which they tracked his whereabouts to Westfield Topanga Mall in Canoga Park, which is where they arrested him.
Detective Efren Gutierrez from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) stated in a news conference on Wednesday that investigators have found evidence of crime at Haskellโs Tarzana residence, which includes blood stains. While the couple’s three children are currently under the care of the county Department of Children and Family Services, Gutierrez said that Samuel Haskell’s missing wife as well as her parents are still unaccounted for.
Gutierrez stated:
They would normally be home in these hours, and attempts have been made to contact them by phone, by cell phone and no answer. And the same with Mei. She is unaccounted for.โ
Gutierrez further added that investigators strongly believe the torso belongs to Samuel Haskellโs wife. Unsurprisingly, the case has drawn all sorts of widespread attention. Authorities remain unclear about exactly how long the remains of the body were in the dumpster. According to some reports, a witness reportedly saw a body in a black bag near the Tarzana home on Tuesday. Mei Haskell reportedly vanished along with her parents, Yanxiang Wang and Gaoshen Li who still remain accounted for. Both the parents reportedly lived with the couple and their three young children in Tarzana, California.
