Adah Sharma’s character, Shalini Unnikrishnan, is inspired by Nimisha, alias Fathima Isa, one of four Keralan women who joined the terrorist group between 2016 and 2018 to fight against US forces in the Khorasan Province of the ISIS-controlled area.

According to reports, Nimisha Fathima and her daughter were among the hundreds of inmates that the Taliban freed when the Indian government declined their offer to return them and other Indian citizens to their country.

While it was Nimisha’s husband, Bekson, aka Isa, who took her to Afghanistan, it was another Muslim youth named Sajjad Rahman who allegedly led her into the trap and persuaded her to convert to Islam when she was a medical student.

Following the film’s recent release, Sajjad Rahman has become a topic of discussion, with many people attempting to learn more about him. So, let’s find out everything about him:

Who is Sajjad Rahman?

Sajjad Rahman is an Indian doctor. He has been in the news because he is the one who allegedly persuaded Nimisha Fathima to convert to Islam and subsequently become an ISIS bride.

He is a native of Trivandrum, Kerala, and many people also fondly call him Siji. His mother’s name is Rajila Saleem, and his father’s name is Syed Saleem. He is married, and his wife’s name is Ayisha Nizam.

Sajjad Rahman did his medical studies at the Jawaharlal Institute of Post-Graduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER). Later, he becomes a junior resident at ENT there.

He is the owner of a restaurant named Sijis Buff Street in Nanthan Code Junction. The cuisine of this restaurant is inspired by the cuisine of the Onattukara region. He also has another restaurant named Sijis Pizza Street. He is currently 26 years old.

What is his role in Nimisha Fathima’s case?

Sajjad Rahman and Nimisha attended the same medical entrance coaching program in Thiruvananthapuram. He then enrolled in Pondicherry’s JIPMER Medical College.

Nimisha’s mother, Bindu Sambat, claimed that he was pursuing her daughter, and she frequently complained about it. She added that Nimisha’s friends subsequently told her that Sajjad and Nimisha’s relationship continued to grow throughout the following two years, while she was living in Kasaragod.

As events progressed, Sajjad Rahman’s position in the narrative became increasingly sinister and mysterious. According to Nimisha’s mother, she learned that Sajjad’s mother had visited her daughter in Thiruvananthapuram and that they had taken her to the Salafi Center in Statue Junction. She claimed that Sajjad’s mother told Nimisha that she should convert to Islam if she wanted to marry Sajjad.

Bindu also claimed that her daughter also got pregnant while being with Sajjad. However, she later had an abortion. According to Bindu Sambat, everyone tried to persuade her not to take action against Sajjad Rahman, as he is quite influential. Rahman, too, threatened her.

She alleged that, in addition to Nimisha, he had spoiled two other females, one of whom was a Christian girl.

According to reports, Rahman later organized for her to marry Bekson Vincent, a Christian who had converted to Islam and taken the name, Isa. The marriage between Nimisha and Isa was only made public after Bindu filed a habeas corpus plea in the Kerala High Court, where her daughter testified before the justices that she was married to Bekson. Later, Nimisha and Bekson fled to Afghanistan.
