The article, titled “Democratic Backsliding in the World’s Largest Democracy,” received a lot of attention on social media. The institution even disassociated itself from the research, claiming it hadn’t yet been published in a reputable academic publication.
Ashoka University has not released a statement announcing Sabyasachi’s resignation, according to an article in The Wire published on Sunday, August 13. But two faculty members were successful in verifying his resignation. Nevertheless, Sabyasachi Das himself told The Wire that he would want to publish his work first before speaking to the media and declined to confirm his departure.
