The brand has since received a lot of backlash for using a transgender model to promote their new lipstick.

Just last week, Maybelline in a different post featured makeup artist Zak Taylor to advertise a recently introduced summer product. The move attracted a swarm of comments from social media users who began slamming the brand for using men.

In the now viral Amazon Prime Day advertisement that Maybelline posted, Vita appears to be applying a bright pink lipstick to himself. The company posted the video by tagging Vita, and using the hashtag #maybellinepartner. Paul Golding, who is the British political head of the far-right fascist political group Britain First, shared the video only and claimed that Maybelline had:

learned nothing from the Bud Light or Target’s experience.”

Maybelline under fire and facing threats of public boycott

Aside from the issue with Ryan Vita, Maybelline are currently facing backlash and are under fire with threats of a public boycott for featuring and sponsoring a transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. Just recently, Mulvaney appeared in a video, which Maybelline posted on their TikTok page in April. The video shows Mulvaney without any makeup on before she “gets glammed up” with Maybelline eyeshadow, lipstick, and other products.

Maybelline posted the video while Mulvaney neared her 100th day of coming out as a trans woman in public. Earlier this year in April, Mulvaney teamed up with Bud Light, which received a lot of criticism, infuriating, many conservatives.
