For the unfamiliar, the 44-year-old Dutch cricket coach and a former cricketer is one of the most prolific associate players and previously in 2022 he served as the fielding coach of IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders.
Though ten Doeschate played for the Netherlands, he was born in Port Elizabeth, Cape Province, South Africa.
In addition, Doeschate has also worked with KKR’s subsidiaries in the Caribbean Premier League, Major League Cricket, and ILT20.
Now reports suggests that he will be joining Abhishek Nayar as part of the India’s team support staff. He is set to join the team for their upcoming Sri Lanka tour starting from July 27.

Though, currently he is working with the LA Knight Riders in the ongoing MLC. When Gambhir’s mentored team Kolkata Knight Riders lifted the IPL trophy in 2024, Ryan ten Doeschate was the team’s fielding coach.
Speaking about Kolkata Knight Riders, standing at 5 ft 11 in (1.80 m), Ryan ten Doeschate himself played for at least 5 years in the IPL as a KKR player. During his playing days, he averaged an unbelievable score of 67 in ODI cricket.
Ryan ten Doeschate earned £98,000 (₹ 10,000,000) per year playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL.
Ryan ten Doeschate, who is widely recognized as a all-rounder had won the ICC Associate and Affiliate Player of the Year Award 3 times in a row between 2008 to 2011.
Doeschate, who could bowl medium pace at full throttle was amongst the most iconic player in the Dutch lineup when India hostel 2011 ICC World Cup.

For the curious, Ryan ten Doeschate was born in Port Elizabeth, South Africa on June 30, 1980 to Ingrid and Boudewyn ten Doeschate. Reports suggest that Ryan ten Doeschate’s father originally hailed from Dutch city of Zwolle. Nothing is known about his relationship status and if he’s married or single.
The right handed batter who is fondly known as ‘Tendo’ attended Fairbairn College and later went to University of Cape Town for further studies, wherein he captained the University’s cricket team.
