On Saturday, a horrifying occurrence happened in Jacksonville, Florida, when a shooter motivated by racial hatred caused a terrible toll. The disaster took place on August 26 in the late afternoon at the Newtown Dollar General store.
The shooter entered the Dollar General shop wearing a tactical vest and carrying an AR-style rifle and pistol. According to an AFP story, the attacker, named 21-year-old Ryan Palmeter of Oakleaf, took his own life during a confrontation with law enforcement authorities as three black people lost their lives in a discount store.
The gravity of the situation was underscored by Jacksonville Sheriff TK Waters during a press conference, where he revealed chilling details. He implied that the gunman’s evil plan was to target black people, which made his motivation all the more obvious. Waters remarked:
He targeted a certain group of people, and that’s black people. That’s what he said he wanted to kill. And that’s very clear.
Unsettlingly, Ryan Palmeter’s revolting philosophy of hatred was disclosed in the manifesto that leaked in the wake of the shooting, and several of the guns had hand-drawn swastikas on them.
