Rupa Rani Tirkey is a famous Indian lawn bowler who is recently been in the news because her team has won India’s first-ever gold in Lawn Balls and she has displayed her skills outstandingly.
She was born in Ranchi, Jharkhand, India, on September 27, 1987. When Ruparani’s father passed away, her mother took up the post office position he had previously had. She has one sister named Reema Rani Tirkey.
She attended Ranchi’s St. Anne’s Girls High School for her education. She studied at Gossner College in Ranchi and the Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education & Sports Sciences in Delhi.
On May 14, 2022, Ruparani married engineer Amrit Minj.
She stands 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 70 kilograms. She is 34 years old at the moment.
Her Career
Rupa Rani Tirkey began her playing career in kabaddi before switching to lawn bowl.
She competed in the Asia Pacific Bowls Championship in 2009, which was held in Malaysia, and took home a bronze in the triples and fours categories. She earned a bronze medal in triples at the 2019 Asia Pacific Bowls Championships in Australia.
She competed in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in India and finished in fourth place. She also competed in the Commonwealth Games once more in 2014, this time in Glasgow, Scotland, where she placed ninth in the triples and fourteenth in the fours.
She competed at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Queensland, Australia, however, she was disqualified in the pairs and the fours events. She competed in the triples and fours events at the 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Queensland, Australia.
