Hellen Onsando Obiri is a Kenyan middle- and long-distance runner who was born on December 13, 1989, in Kisii, Kenya. The 33-year-old measures 1.60 m (5 ft 3 in) tall.

This is Obiri’s third marathon of the year; she finished sixth in her maiden marathon in New York a year ago. Since 1989, she has been the first female winner to take home the titles in both Boston and New York. She is the only female world champion in cross-country, outdoor, and indoor track.
