Rose Mutombo Kiese was Dikembe’s wife until his passing on Monday. Two years after the finger-wagging champion made headlines in 1994 for his prior relationship, the couple tied the knot in 1996. The Washington Post claims that Dikembe called off his first wedding 17 hours before it was scheduled to happen due to his ex-girlfriend’s refusal to sign a prenuptial agreement.

There were reports that Rose signed Dikembe’s prenuptial agreement without any issues. When he left the NBA in 2009, they encouraged one other’s aspirations and he went on to become a humanitarian. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, the home nation of Dikembe, Rose was a successful lawyer and politician.

Rose excelled in the legal and political space as a lawyer and politician. Age 64 Rose Mutombo Kiese was born in Kananga on 19 March 1960 and trained as a lawyer and worked as a magistrate at the General Prosucutor’s Office at the Council of State.

In 2021 she was appointed the Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals in the Lukonde government.

Dikembe and Rose Mutombo Kiese raised seven children together. The NBA star’s four nieces and nephews were adopted by them, and they also had three biological children. Dikembe frequently talked about his son Ryan on social media. He shared a picture of them at Georgetown, his alma university, in December 2021, celebrating one of his son’s basketball games.

Ryan gained notoriety in February by becoming a Hoya, carrying on his father’s legacy. He later switched to Georgia Tech following three seasons at Georgetown. Following a two-year fight with brain cancer, Dikembe passed away on Monday. NBA commissioner Adam Silver sent Rose and their kids his “deepest condolences” in a statement following his passing.

At the age of 21, Mutombo left the Democratic Republic of the Congo to play collegiate basketball for the Georgetown Hoyas in the United States. Mutombo was selected by the Denver Nuggets as the fourth overall choice in the 1991 NBA Draft.
