Jerry Richardson was a well-known American businessman and football player. He has been in the news because he passed away recently at the age of 86.
His full name was Jerome Johnson Richardson Sr. He was born on July 18, 1936, in Spring Hope, North Carolina, U.S.
He did his schooling at Terry Sanford High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Later, he attended Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
He was married, and his wife’s name is Rosalind Sallenger Richardson. They are both the parents of three children together; their names are Ashley Richardson Allen, Mark, and Jon.
Richardsonโs wife, also studied at Winthrop University in the late 1950s and the Richardsons lived in North Carolina their entire lives. They became the parents of three children. Jon passed away in 2013. Nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild are also included in the family.
The former president of the Panthers stadium was their son Jon Richardson and he passed away in 2013 at the age of 53 after a protracted fight with cancer.
In 2016, Jerry Richardson made donations to establish the Rosalind Sallenger Richardson Center for the Arts in the Wofford College campus in honor of his wife of more than 60 years.

His career
Jerry Richardson was chosen in the first round of the 1959 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Colts after playing football at Wofford College. Before being moved to the young Minnesota Vikings, where he played for one season before giving up football in 1961, he spent two seasons playing for the Colts.
He later went on to become a prosperous businessman and helped launch Hardee’s fast food franchise in 1961. Later, he sold his shares in Hardee’s and rose to the position of the main owner of Flagstar, a restaurant delivery business that was ultimately acquired by Denny’s.
Richardson won the rights to an NFL expansion team for the Carolinas in 1987; this team would later become known as the Carolina Panthers. Up until 2018, when he sold the team to billionaire David Tepper in response to claims of improper behavior at the teamโs organization.
