Mihaela Valentina Cambei is a Romanian weightlifter who was born on November 18, 2002, in Dofteana, Romania. Mihaela is currently 21 years old, and competes in the 49 kg weight class. She recently managed to win a silver medal in the women’s 49 kg event at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics. Last year, she won the gold medal in the same event at the European Weightlifting Championships in Yerevan, Armenia.

Career and achievements
Mihaela Valentina Cambei first gained prominence after winning three consecutive golds at the European Youth Championships in the 48 kg. She won consecutively at 2017 Pristina, 2018 San Donato Milanese, and at 2019 Eilat. Cambei also won a bronze in the 48 kg event during the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
She then won a silver at the 2019 European Junior & U23 Weightlifting Championships in Bucharest, Romania. She won the medal in the women’s junior 49 kg event in the Snatch, Clean & Jerk and Total. Two years later in 2021, Cambei won a bronze in the women’s 49 kg at the 2021 European Weightlifting Championships. That same year, she won the silver at the Junior World Weightlifting Championships.
Cambei won the gold medal in her event at the 2022 European Junior & U23 Weightlifting Championships held in Durrës, Albania. Mihaela Valentina Cambei then won a silver in the women’s 49 kg Snatch event at the 2022 World Weightlifting Championships. She also won a gold in the women’s 49 kg event at the 2023 European Weightlifting Championships in Yerevan, Armenia. At the same event, she also won the gold medals in the Snatch and Clean & Jerk events.
That same year, Cambei won a bronze in the women’s 49 kg Snatch event at the 2023 World Weightlifting Championships. Earlier this year, Mihaela Valentina Cambei won the gold medal in her event at the Sofia 2024 European Weightlifting Championships. She has now won the silver medal in the women’s 49 kg event at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
