Earlier, reports surfaced suggesting that a 22-year-old IIT Bombay’s Student died after allegedly falling off his Powai situated institute’s hostel 17 terrace. Reportedly, the student died after he fell off the 10th floor. The authorities suspect that it is maybe a case of suicide.
Rohit Sinha, a 22-year-old fourth-year Metallurgical Engineering and Material Science student at IIT Bombay, died early Saturday morning. While some outlets have cited his age as 22, others have claimed he was 26 years old at the time of his death.

As per media reports, the victim is identified as Rohit Sinha, who hailed from Delhi. Additionally, the reports revealed that the student has recently completed his BTech from the institute in Meta Science and was waiting for campus placement.

Rohit had just completed his BTech in Metallurgical Sciences from IITB and was awaiting placement but no suicide note was found.
He had spent the evening with fellow students before staying alone on the terrace and police have registered an accidental death report and are probing academic stress as a possible factor.
As per the counts given by the Mumbai police officials, there wasn’t any su*c*dal note discovered. Meanwhile, IIT Bombay has released a statement, as they extended their condolences towards the untimely death of their student.

What Exactly Happened?
As per officials, on Friday night, Rohit Sinha met few of his friends and they ordered food and after collecting it, all of them went to the hostel’s terrace. After finishing their meal, other student returned back to their rooms, however Rohit Sinha stayed at the terrace.
As of now, it isn’t clear, whether the student jumped off voluntarily or if it was a mistake. However, reports reveal that after the fall, the hostel residents rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared ‘brought dead.’
Earlier, in a statement, an official revealed that they have notified the deceased’s family members and “the body will soon be handed over,” to Sinha’s family members.

Meanwhile, claims are swirling around that the student was under stress for not getting the placement. However, sources from the institute suggest that the campus placement process doesn’t start before December. As of now, the authorities have taken the counts of those who were with Rohit Sinha at the time, however, they didn’t find anything suspicious.

As per procedure, the local Police of Powai have filed an accidental death report, as of now, as they are still investigating the matter. Furthermore, they are waiting to take the counts of student’s family members to determine if Rohit was under any pressure to have taken this extreme step.
