Victor Osimhen joins Galatasaray on loan
Napoli forward Victor Osimhen, who joined the club in September 2020, has completed a shock loan move to Turkish Super League giants Galatasaray. The move comes following a fallout with the Serie A club and its coach Antonio Conte. Osimhen will join Galatasaray on a one-year loan deal, with no negotiations of a permanent transfer. Notably, Osimhen was linked with a transfer move to Premier League club Chelsea, but the two parties failed to agree on terms. Roberto Calenda also previously shot down rumours of a possible โฌ70 million move to Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli. Calenda made a statement about Osimhen stating:
As I said, he is not a package to be shipped far away to make room for new prophets. Victor was elected African footballer of the year, eighth at the Ballon dโOr, (and) he still has so much to do in Europe. There is need (for) respect and balance.โ
Osimhenโs new loan deal also brought about significant changes to his release clause, which got lowered to โฌ75 million.
