As a way of celebrating the graduation of fifth graders, the students and staff put on a talent show where Richard Goodall’s performance came into the limelight. However, the school has always been aware of Goodall’s talent and asks him to perform at the end of every year. Preferring songs like Lee Greenwood’s God Bless the USA, he chose the band journey’s hit 1981 track this year. This cover gained 107,000 views the very next day on Mariah’s TikTok handle which crossed one million views until the weekend and 3 million in the coming weeks.
It caught the attention of Steve Perry, the former lead singer of Journey and co-writer of Don’t Stop Believin’, who shared the video and captioned it with, “I love this.” The video was posted on his social media handle on June 29.
Who is Richard Goodall?
53-year-old Richard Goodall is a father who is a resident of Terre Haute, Indiana. He works in the Davis Park Elementary School as a janitor and performs all custodial work. Over the last 20 years, he has worked for the Vigo County School Corporation.
According to the reports, Richard Goodall has been singing most of his life, from the high school choir to the gospel choir for more than eight years before it was shut down by pandemics.
Mr. Goodall is also active like his colleagues by having a private Instagram account with over 200 followers and 115 posts.
With the gaining success, of his song, he appeared for a virtual audition for ‘The Voice’ but unfortunately was turned down for the same song.
However, this dint turned his confidence down, and he happily said, “I am just a regular person, I am happy”. He feels content with food in his belly and a roof over his head. This simple man is thankful for being warm in winter and cool in summer.
