Renee Slegers career
Renee Slegers began her childhood career with SSE, a local team in Someren. After spending some time on Arsenal’s books from 2006 to 2007, she returned home to start her professional career with Willem II. Slegers joined the Swedish team Djurgardens IF in 2011 after leaving Willem II. She transferred to Linkoping FC for the 2012 season when Djurgardens was demoted.
Slegers’ playing career ultimately came to an end due to a severe knee injury she suffered in November 2016, and she was compelled to declare her retirement in February 2018.
Slegers made her debut for the senior Netherlands women’s national football team on March 5, 2009, in a Cyprus Cup match against Russia. Slegers was included in the Netherlands squad for the UEFA Women’s Euro 2013 in Sweden in June 2013 by national team coach Roger Reijners.
After coaching IF Limhamn Bunkeflo’s under-19 squad during the 2018 season, Slegers was elevated to head coach in November of the same year. She was named head coach of Sweden’s under-23 national team in March 2021.
