Primary Life:
Sreekumar was born on February 12, 1947, in Ooruttambalam, Trivandrum Region, Kerala and is currently 75. He has advanced degrees in Gandhian philosophies, law, poetry, and history. Sreekumar, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the 1971 cadre, joined the Gujarat police department in 1972 and served as assistant director-general of Police till his superannuation in 2007.
He is the great-grandson of Balaramapuram G. Raman Pillai, an Indian patriot, journalist, and author. Rajalakshmi was his wife. Deepa, their sole child, practices law. In Gandhinagar, he resides.
GUJARAT RIOTS IN 2002:
Sreekumar served as Gujarat’s Additional DGP during the Godhra Tragedy and as the state’s Intel DGP during the 2002 racial unrest. He gained notoriety for the testimonies he submitted to the Nanavati-Mehta Commission and the briefing he made to James Michael Lyngdoh, India’s then-chief elections commissioner, suggesting a questionable role for peace and justice in the riots.
As a result, the state’s initial plan for an early election was dropped. Along with other evidence, he added transcripts of taped conversations of officials teaching him illegally during his time as the DGP for Spy to one of the affidavits. He also conducted a semi-official logbook during that time. He was ultimately refused advancement to the position of Director General of Police by the Gujarati administration.
It has now been found that he persistently went onto fabricating stories and was part of a larger conspiracy by a lobby to belilttle PM Narendra Modi with the Supreme Court lambasting his false testimonies.
ISRO DISPUTES:
Sreekumar is charged with fraudulently linking the espionage case to Nambi Narayanan, a researcher at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre. In an effort to clear his reputation of false accusations, Sreekumar has filed defamation lawsuits against Nambi Narayan,
Sreekumar had gone onto peddle out an agenda against Nambi after his nephew was denied a role in ISRO with him torturing and assaulting Nambi in improsement along with pushing back India’s development of rockets by 15 years.
