US Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), supported Chaudhary’s nomination for the role. Following the appointment, she released a statement where she congratulated him on his achievement.
Klobuchar also briefly about Chaudhary, and how he had dreamed of serving the United States as an Air Force pilot. She also shared about Chaudhary’s decision to dedicate his career to public service.
She ended her statement by expressing her confidence in Chaudhary’s qualifications and experience for the role. Klobuchar revealed that she looks forward to working with Chadhary in supporting the men and women of the Air Force.
Ravi Chaudhary brief bio and career
Ravi Chaudhary is an Indian-American who was a former active duty Air Force pilot for over two decades from 1993-2015. During his years of service, Chaudhary conducted numerous combat missions in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Chaudhary has a Doctorate specialising in executive leadership and Innovation from the Georgetown University DLS Program, an MS in Industrial Engineering from St. Mary’s University as a NASA graduate fellow, an MA in Operational Arts and Military Science from Air University, and a BS in Aeronautical Engineering from the US Air Force Academy and is a Federal Executive Institute graduate with Department of Defense acquisition certifications in program management, test and evaluation and systems engineering.
Chaudhary, a combat veteran who served as an Air Force pilot from 1993 to 2015, grew up in Fridley and is a Minnesota native and graduated from Columbia Heights High School. He spent five years in the Federal Aviation Administration, including work in Commercial Space Transportation.
Growing up as the son of immigrant parents in Minnesota, Dr. Ravi Chaudhary dreamed of serving the US country as an Air Force pilot.
Following his retirement from military service, Chaudhary worked within the Regions and Center Operations as a senior official. He also worked in the Office of Commercial Space at the Federal Aviation Administration for five years. During President Obama’s tenure, he appointed Ravi to serve on the President’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.

As the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Energy, Installations, and the Environment, Ravi Chaudhary will now be responsible for the Air Force’s sustainability and operational readiness.
This role includes tasks like developing installations and basing strategies. He is alos responsible for ensuring the quality of military housing.
