Who Is Rashawn Gaston-Anderson?
Rashawn Gaston-Anderson went out into a restaurant less than a week after his release and opened fire on Chengyan Wang who was an Asian waiter. He shot him a total of 11 times and brought him near to death. But Wang surprisingly survived this firing incident and has filed a lawsuit against, The Bail Project for releasing Gaston Anderson apart from his criminal history.
The Bail Project is known to be a non-governmental organization that works for funds and bail of jailed criminals, whose supporters included the celebrities like Richard Branson, Danny Glover, and John Legend. It declared previously this month that it was disbanding its Las Vegas chapter due to the case of Rashawn Gaston-Anderson.
Gaston-Anderson was arrested in 2021 of November for carrying a concealed weapon, as per the court records. In that case, he was released without paying bail and was warned to stay out of trouble in the future. Later on, he got arrested again the next day in the city of Las Vegas for burglary and theft. The Bail Project paid around $3,000 bond set by Las Vegas Justice Court Judge Amy Chelini.
6 days after his release, he shot Chengyan Wang. “ But i still remember vividly when the first police officer on the scene was immediately helping me out to stop the bleeding on my neck,” Wang stated in an interview.
“It also helped me to put pressure on others.” Wang’s attorneys claimed in the lawsuit that the organization carried “no due diligence” in tracking whether Rashawn Gaston-Anderson would re-offend. Because of Gaston’s firing incident, people are questioning the bail project.
