Who is Rangers footballer Alexander aka Alex Smith, bio, age, height, position and contract details

Alex Smith is a young 15-year-old player for the Rangers. He will turn 16 next month and will reportedly sign his first professional contract. His height stands at 1.68m and he plays as an attacking midfielder.

The fifteen-year-old midfield player, who holds dual citizenship with the United States and Scotland, is believed to have turned down significant transfer offers from other teams to almost reach an agreement with one of their top players.

Smith was raised in Glasgow, but if he keeps improving and playing the way he is now, Tartan Army management will want to lock him down to the senior squad. He played at the under-15 level for the USA.

He captained Scotland’s under-16 team eight times, and according to reports, other teams are vying for the player to take him away from the Rangers academy. He has also participated in youth competitions for the United States.

What will Alex Smith’s contract look like?

According to the Fabrizio Romano story, Smith and the club are “close” to finalising the terms of his first professional contract, which would expire in June 2027.

There will have been concerns among the team because Rangers could only get a six-figure deal for Smith. In the next month of his sixteenth birthday, the young player will be eligible to sign his professional contract.

The Gers’ unsatisfactory campaign culminated in a loss to Celtic in the final Old Firm league match of the season, which prevented them from catching up to the Hoops.

They also lost to Ross County and dropped points at Dundee, which ultimately cost them the Premiership title.

As the season draws near, all eyes will be on the pitch. Smith’s professional contract to remain with the squad is just one of many significant deals that will be made; Jefte is one of the confirmed additions.

Meanwhile, the 15-year-old, who has excelled in the Gers’ development programme, caught the attention of Arsenal in February, hoping he may follow in the footsteps of Rory Wilson or Billy Gilmour.
