California, MAGA Republican Assemblyman Randy Voepel is the grandfather of Colorado Springs, shooting suspect Anderson Lee Aldrich as per media reports, know his family and education
Colorado Springs officials arrested Aldrich, following a mass shooting at the LGBT event Club Q on 19.11.22 Saturday that has left 5 people dead and 25 got injured. Media reports showed Aldrich’s mother is Laura Voepel, daughter of a 72-year-old California state assemblyman.

On 14th April 2020 in a Facebook post, Laura Voepel stated: “Keep it up the work dad. You have worked very hard to improve our lives and a lot of us take notice.” Randy Voepel was earlier condemned over comments he made where he compared the 6th January riot at the Capitol in Washington, D.C., to the American Revolutionary War.
Just 3 days after the riot, Randy Voepel told the Union-Tribune: “This is the Lexington and Concord. The first shots were fired against tyranny. Voepel has also shown his support for former President Donald Trump on the 20th of January 2017, through a Twitter post.
Randy Voepel Professional Career, Age, And Latest News
In 2016, Voepel was elected for representing California’s 71st Assembly District. Prior to being a state assemblyman, Randy Voepel worked as the Santee City mayor between the years 2000 to 2016 and was also on the city’s council from 1996 to 2000.
In 2022, Voepel was honored with the East Californian Silver Star Award for the “Best Elected Official.” Randy was born on 21st September 1950 and presently he is 72 years of age.
Before Voepel stepped into sector politics, he served 2 tours with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Newsweek has contacted Voepel’s office for comment.
In a news briefing on Sunday, Colorado Springs police stated the motive for the shooting was not yet known and that investigations were being carried out to determine if it was a hate crime.
