Early Career
Kolo Muani was a comparatively late bloomer in today’s world of academy football. He initially started out playing at Villepinte in Paris before switching to Tremblay-en-France and Torcy at the U11-U16 level. Just around a month before turning 17, the then teenager joined the youth ranks of Nantes in November 2015.
Career Stats And Highlights
After about three years of waiting, Kolo made his professional debut on 30 November 2018. By the end of the 2018/19 campaign, Kolo had six appearances in Ligue 1 matches.
He then went off for a brief loan spell at Bolougne, the French third division in the 2019/20 season. There, Kolo Muani got sent off twice in his first five appearances for the new club. However, his form improved and he went on to score three times and bag five assists in 14 outings. That particular season however, was cut short by the coronavirus pandemic.
Kolo returned to Nantes the following season, and scored nine goals and bagged eight assists. His most important contribution came during the relegation playoffs of the 2020/21 campaign.
Kolo managed to score against Toulouse, which helped Nantes avoid relegation on away goals after a two-legged tie. The following 2021/22 campaign, Kolo secured 12 league goals and helped win the French Cup.
Earlier this summer, Kolo Muani signed a five-year deal with Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt. Muani made a spectacular debut with a DFB Cup debut assist in Magdeburg followed by a Bundesliga debut goal in a defeat to Bayern Munich. He then went on to score and assist in the win at Werder Bremen two weeks later.
The 23-year-old forward set a new Bundesliga record with nine assists in his first 13 league games. Currently, Kolo Muani has eight goals across all competitions as the league stopped for the ongoing FIFA World Cup.
International Career
Kolo Muani made his France U21 debut back in October 2020. The Eintracht No.9 then scored his first goal just a month later during a 3-1 win over Switzerland. Kolo went on to play in all three of France’s games at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
He finally got a call-up to the senior squad, making his France debut just recently in September 2022. It came during a 2-0 win over Austria. Kolo then got called up for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar following RB Leipzig striker Christopher Nkunku’s injury.
Impressively, Kolo came off the bench and scored his firsts senior goal in just 44 seconds after entering the pitch during France’s recent semi-final win against Morocco. The goal has become the third-quickest goal ever from any substitute in World Cup history.
Similarities To Thierry Henry
Interestingly, Kolo Muani has been compared to legendary France striker Thierry Henry. This is because the two share similarities. Henry also started his career with his impressive pace and trickery playing out wide before switching to a centre-forward role. Both the players also stand at around 6’2″ and are cut out very similar with rangy figures.
Kolo Muani also possesses a very relaxed dribbling style coupled with immense turn of speed, this were notably hallmarks of Henry’s characteristics especially when he was young. Moreover, both the two players share similar strength on the ball and cheekiness in play style.
Coaches Speak Out

Frankfurt head coach Oliver Glasner also shared about the young striker:
He’s quick, strong in the tackle, a great dribbler, and can finish. He’s doing really well for us.
