On September 13, 1959, Rajeev Shukla was born in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh and is 5ft 4in tall.
Shukla received his education at Christ Church College and Pandit Prithi Nath College in Kanpur. After that, he attended Vikramajit Singh Sanatan Dharma College in Kanpur to study law.

Prior to going into politics, he worked as a reporter for the Hindi daily Jansatta and was friends with Deepa Saxena, with whom he shared the stage.
Shukla remained in this position until 1985, when he joined Ravivar Magazine as a special correspondent. He was employed as a senior editor and remained there till 2000, when he was elected to the Rajya Sabha. He is currently a member of the Indian National Congress.

Rajeev Shukla was elected as a Member of Parliament in 2000, marking the start of his political career. He then joined, Akhil Bhartiya Loktantrik Congress Party. Following this party’s 2003 merger with the Indian National Congress (INC), he was named the INC’s spokesperson.
He was later proposed as the All India Congress Committee’s secretary in January 2006. In March 2006, he was elected for a second time. “Minister of State – Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs” (2011) and “Minister of State – Ministry of Planning” (2012) are two of Rajeev Shukla’s prominent political roles.
He participates actively in both the national and state hockey and cricket sports committees. He serves as both the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association’s secretary and a member of the Hockey India League’s governing council.
Rajeev’s current net worth stands at Rs.65 crore with him having assets of Rs.77 crore and liabilities of Rs.12 crore.
As the BCCI new President, he will not be receiving a regular monthly salary. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president does not receive a regular monthly salary and instead he is compensated through allowances and reimbursements for attending meetings and other duties.
Jay Shah, as the Secretary, received around ₹84,000 daily for attending international cricket meetings or tours and also received ₹40,000 a day for meetings within India and is entitled to business class travel and the BCCI also covered his travel and lodging expenses.
