The accused’s brother, in his complaint, said, “Around 10 am, I heard a loud sound and when I went to the first floor, I saw my niece (Radhika) lying in the kitchen and the gun in the drawing room. My son and I took her to Asia Maringo Hospital, where the doctors declared her dead.”

Former state-level tennis player Radhika Yadav was allegedly shot dead by her father in Gurgaon’s Sector 57 with age 49 Deepak Yadav admitting to the crime. He is said to have been angry with his daughter making Instagram reels with her aspiring to be a social media influencer.

The 25-year-old athlete was reportedly hit by three of the five bullets fired at her. Authorities stated that a call was received from the hospital, informing them that a woman with bullet injuries had been brought in dead. Upon reaching the residence, police discovered that Radhika had been running a tennis academy from her home after suffering a shoulder injury, and it was her own father who had taken her life. The accused has since been taken into custody along with a .32 bore licensed revolver.

Born on March 23, 2000, Radhika emerged as a promising tennis player from Haryana, earning recognition at both state and national levels. She remained active on the International Tennis Federation (ITF) circuit and had accumulated 10 points internationally, with a world ranking of 113.

Within her home state, she was ranked fifth in women’s doubles.

Radhika built her reputation early through age-group competitions and was listed in the All India Tennis Association (AITA) records with a career-best ranking of 75 in Girls U-18 (achieved on January 22, 2018), 53 in women’s doubles (April 5, 2021), and 35 in women’s singles (February 12, 2018). She was also ranked fifth in Haryana.

According to available information, Radhika Yadav was in the kitchen on the first floor of their second story home preparing a meal when her father, Deepak Yadav, shot her in the back with a licensed pistol, firing three bullets while Radhika’s mother was on the ground floor. Police sources described her as a rising figure in the sports world, known for securing multiple medals at the national level. After stepping away from professional tennis due to a serious shoulder injury, she had recently started a sports academy in her village to train young aspirants.

As per an NDTV report, locals had often remarked that Deepak was financially dependent on his daughter’s income. These remarks reportedly left him mentally disturbed, fueling frequent disputes at home—particularly over the past fifteen days. Following the incident, the police detained the accused and launched a detailed investigation into the case.

Whenever he went to his village in Wazirabad, people made taunts at him for living on his daughter’s earnings, which hurt his dignity and Deepak said he told his daughter to shut down the academy, but she refused, which made him angry.
