As per the statement released by her management, Atiqa achieved this historic milestone by winning Race 2 in the heat of the Micromax category.

For the unversed, the RMCIT-Rotax Max Challenge International Trophy is one of the most esteemed international race meets. It draws the best kart drivers across the world, including several current and past winners and world champions.

Hailing from Kashmir, age 9 Atiqa Mir is already a local star in the state. She now lives in Dubai where she trains with George Gibbons Motorsports.

Atiqa Mir’s Performance

Atiqa has demonstrated her excellent form throughout the week. Though it was her first visit to the legendary Le Mans circuit with no prior practice, Atiqa, quickly adapted to the new kart and consistently set the pace in practice sessions, often topping the grid.

However, she only managed to secure 10th place in qualifying due to not getting a clear lap. In the qualifying heat 1 race, Atiqa gained four places, reaching 6th before a racing incident dropped her to 9th position.

In Race 2, the young driver showcased top-notch speed and maturity, setting a series of fast, consistent lap times and making several great passes to secure first place, making history at the famous Le Mans Circuit.

Total Number of Drivers

As per media reports, a total of 36 drivers competed in the MicroMax category, with 318 drivers from 40 nations participating across all categories.

After the race, Atiqa Mir expressed her excitement and happiness. The young racer extended her gratitude to her parents and supporters who supported her through her journey.

Reports indicate that, during the final race, Atiqa was unfortunately involved in several racing incidents, slowing her down. Due to this, she ended up finishing in 12th place.

The first place was secured by Joshua Cooke of KR Sport, followed by Alfie Mair, who finished second, and Austin Oman of Sam Pollitt Racing, who secured third place.

Atiqa’s win at Le Mans has further solidified her position as the best female karting driver in her age group worldwide.

Now, Atiqa is all set to compete at the world-famous Kartmasters in the UK, next month.

She is also nominated for the Iron Dames Young Talent event in Italy later in the month, one of only 11 girls worldwide, the only Asian, and the youngest among the shortlisted candidates.
