The track and field competitors gave Team India some hopeful news to begin the 11th day of the Asian Games. Manju Rani and Ram Baboo took home the bronze in the 35-kilometer mixed team walk competition.

Who is Manju Rani?
Manju Rani is an athlete from India from Rithal Phogat village in the Rohtak district of Haryana. She was born on 26 October 1999 and is currently 23 years old.
A look at Manju Rani’s career so far
Rani started out playing kabaddi, but her coach encouraged her to switch to boxing. After seeing Indian boxer MC Mary Kom’s bronze-winning performance at the 2012 London Summer Olympics, Rani decided to convert to boxing and was inspired by it.
She won a silver medal at the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in 2019. She also won silver and bronze medals in boxing at the 2017 India Open and Thailand Open, respectively. At the 2019 Strandja Memorial Boxing Tournament in Bulgaria, she also took home a silver medal.
After falling short in the Philippines’ Josie Gabuco in the finals of the Strandja Memorial Boxing Tournament 2019, Rani took home a silver medal in the 48 kg division. The same year she grabbed a silver medal at the 2019 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships.
In the same year, Rani hired sports management company Infinity Optimal Solutions (IOS) to handle her endorsements and business affairs. However, Rani served IOS Sports and Entertainment with a notice of termination of the contract in November 2020 as punishment for failing to uphold the sponsorship agreement.

In 2010, Manju Rani’s father Bhimsen Singh, a Border Security Force officer, passed away from stomach cancer. By the time he passed away, Rani was just around 12 years old. Her mother’s name is Ishwati Devi. Rani is fourth among the five children of their parents.
