Shellyne Rodriguez is an adjunct lecturer at the School of Visual Arts and Hunter College, and a video has gone viral showing her brandishing a machete and threatening a reporter with her video now viral on Instagram
The Internet has exposed us to a lot of different things, but a professor using a machete on a reporter is still very shocking. The teacher destroys the pro-life stand she and her pupils manned days before the event comes to light.
New York Post writer Reuven Fenton visited Rodriguez at her Bronx apartment on May 23, 2023, to question her about the event. In retaliation, she produced a machete, positioned it over his neck, and threatened to “chop” him. Outside, she pursued Fenton and his photography partner while still holding the weapon.

After hearing about what happened, several people called for Shellyne Rodriguez’s dismissal from her teaching position. Vince Dimiceli, a spokesman for Hunter College, told the Daily Mail, “Shellyne Rodriguez’s acts were sharply condemned by Hunter College, which then took swift action. She was promptly dismissed of her duties at the college and will no longer be teaching there.”
