On his Instagram feed, the accused NIT student Prathamesh Shinde posted a video of Mosab Hassan Yousef criticizing Islam and the Prophet Muhammad. The video has already gone viral.
After a large-scale demonstration and chanting broke out over the video mentioned above at the NIT campus on Tuesday, an FIR was filed against the accused. Muslim students at NIT Srinagar sought his arrest, accusing him of “blasphemy,” despite the fact that neither the accused nor he made the video—rather, he posted it after editing it by a YouTuber.
Some media sources claim that Prathamesh Shinde, who was charged with allegedly offending religious feelings, has been rusticated from the college and is not allowed to present for the semester examinations. According to news outlet IANS, the school administration placed the accused student on leave after the incident.
Sharing specifics about the situation, IGP Kashmir VK Birdi stated that the police have acted in accordance with applicable laws and have started an inquiry into the occurrence after learning about it and getting a formal letter from the NIT campus registrar requesting legal action.

Who is Prathamesh Shinde?
Prathamesh Shinde is an Indian Hindu student. He has been in the news because he courted controversy by posting a video that criticizes Prophet Muhammad.
He is a native of Bihar and is of Marathi descent. He studied engineering at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar.
Due to his derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad (SAW), the Disciplinary Committee rusticated and suspended him, preventing him from taking examinations or staying in the dorm. According to a senior police official, he was charged under sections 153 and 295 of the IPC after the Registrar of NIT requested that police file a lawsuit against him.
Prathamesh Shinde posted a video on Instagram featuring Mosab Hassan Yousef, the son of Sheikh Hassan Yousef, one of the founding members of Hamas. In the video, the former Israeli agent is heard disparaging Islam.
Yousef stated in the video that, while there are many peaceful Muslims, Islam is not a peaceful religion. Before the US gave Yousef refuge in 2010, he served for the Israeli Security Agency, or Shin Bet, from 1997 to 2007.
