A taxi driver from the Nagpada area in Mumbai was arrested on charges of murdering a woman and disposing of her body by a rivulet.

The accused identified as Nizam Khan, has confessed to the crime, alleging that he killed the woman because he suspected she was having an affair.
The 27-year-old accused was in a 4-year relationship with Nizam, who allegedly killed her on suspicion of having an affair with another man.

What Did Police Say?
According to the police, the decomposed body of Poonam Kshirsagar was found on April 25 in the Uran area of Raigad district. 27 year old Poonam lived in Mankhurd, a suburb in eastern Mumbai, and worked as a domestic helper in Nagpada, Mumbai.
Nizam Khan aka Nizamuddin Ali Shaikh has since been arrested in the case and Poonam was unaware of Nazim’s marital status until she discovered he was married and had a child, leading to a confrontation over the phone.
According to local media, on the morning of April 18, Poonam went to work but did not return home. Her parents contacted her employer, who told them that she had left work in the evening. A missing person’s report was filed at the Mankhurd police station by Poonam’s family.
On April 25, a decomposed body was discovered at a secluded spot in the Uran coastal area. Half of the body was in a gunny bag, and it was completely decomposed.
A murder case was filed against an unknown individual under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. The Uran Police sent the body for a post-mortem examination and issued an alert for identification.
Using this information, the Mankhurd Police contacted Poonam’s family, who identified her based on her bracelet and clothing. The post-mortem revealed that Poonam had been strangled and drowned.
What Exactly Happened?
During the investigation, police found that Nizam Khan, a Nagpada resident, used to give Poonam rides from Mankhurd to Nagpada every day.
Nizam picked up the victim, Poonam Kshirsagar, from Mankhurd and drove her to Khadavli in the Kalyan area of Thane district on April 18.
Nizam, who hails from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, told the authorities that after Poonam’s shift on April 18, they went to Khadavli, where she drowned. He claimed that he took her to a government hospital where she was pronounced dead, but panicked and disposed of her body in Uran.
However, after further questioning by the Uran Police, Nizam admitted to killing Poonam by strangling her and then dumping her body. He confessed that he suspected Poonam of having an affair, leading to an argument that ended in her death.
