Aleksandra (Ola) Miroslaw, born Aleksandra Rudzińska, is a Polish competition speed climber who was born on February 2, 1994, in Lublin, Poland. She is a two-time women’s speed world champion and the current world record holder in women’s competition speed climbing. Miroslaw started playing sports at the age of seven and initially took interest in swimming. However, she switched to speed climbing in 2007 after her older sister Małgorzata influenced her.

She is a twice world champion and world record holder and her personal best time is 6.06s which she gained in her run during the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

Career and achievements

Aleksandra Miroslaw initially competed under her maiden name Aleksandra Rudzińska. She won her first major achievement with a bronze medal in the women’s world championship speed climbing at the 2014 IFSC Climbing World Championships, in Gijón, Spain. She then won the gold medal in women’s speed climbing world at the 2018 IFSC Climbing World Championships in Innsbruck.

The following year, Miroslaw retained her world title at the 2019 IFSC Climbing World Championships in Hachioji, Japan. Miroslaw also reached the finals of the combined event and qualified her for the 2020 Olympics in the same competition. Miroslaw set a new women’s Olympic Record record on August 4, 2021, during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics with 6.97 s. Just two day later, she improved her time with 6.84 s.

Despite her impressive performances, she finished only in 4th place in the overall standings, failing to win a medal. Aleksandra Miroslaw then broke her previous record on May 27, 2022, with a time of 6.53 seconds during at the IFSC Climbing World Cup second qualification round, in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. The following year in April 28, 2023, during the IFSC Climbing World Cup in Seoul, South Korea, Kristen further broke her world records four times. She finished with a time of 6.25 seconds.

Later that year, Miroslaw qualified for the 2024 Olympics in the European Qualifier, setting a new record of 6.24 seconds. Aleksandra Miroslaw has now set a new record yesterday, August 5, 2024, during the qualification heats at the 2024 Olympics. She broke her world records twice, and set a new world record of 6.06 seconds. Aleksandra set the new record just moments after breaking her previous world record with 6.21 seconds in the first climb.
