Who is Pini Zahavi?
Pinhas “Pini” Zahavi, an Israeli football agent, was born on August 24, 1943 and is currently 79 years old. In addition to his role in the ownership changes of Chelsea and Portsmouth, Zahavi is well-known for his work as a football agent, including the (at the time) record-breaking acquisition of Rio Ferdinand. Tel Aviv is where Zahavi’s offices are.
A look at Pini Zahavi’s early life and family
Zahavi was born to a Jewish family in Ness Ziona, Israel. His father owned a store where he supplied local contractors with construction supplies. Along with a brother, he has two older sisters.
Zahavi is a widower with two kids. He rents a residence in London’s Marble Arch and resides in a coastal flat in Tel Aviv’s northern region. Alex Zahavi, a football player, has him as a great uncle.
Pini Zahavi’s career
After leaving college, Zahavi started working as a football journalist. He was a journalist for the Israeli publications Yedioth Ahronoth, Hadashot Hasport, and Hadashot. As part of Zahavi’s initial deal, an Israeli defender named Avi Cohen was moved from Maccabi Tel Aviv to Liverpool in 1979. He grew his network of contacts as a sports journalist throughout the 1980s.
After quitting his job as a journalist in 1998, he negotiated his second contract the following year. This marked the beginning of his career as an agent, and he continued to develop close ties with the football world by organising friendly international matches in Israel, inviting players like Graeme Souness and Kenny Dalglish to stay at his villa in Eilat, and even bringing oranges to Melwood, Liverpool’s training facility, as a gift for the team and staff.
