The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is still being chopped and changed. In all formats, Jason Gillespie is expected to be fired as Pakistan’s head coach. Former Pakistani pacer Aaqib Javed is expected to take Gillespie’s place as the all-format coach, according to an ESPNcricinfo report.
In addition to serving as Pakistan’s interim white-ball coach for the current series against Australia, Gillespie is presently the team’s Test coach. It is anticipated that Gillespie will be freed of his responsibilities, and Aaqib Javed will assume his place. The former bowler for Pakistan was recently named the convenor of the selection committee for men’s cricket.
It is possible that Pakistan national cricket team senior selector Aaqib Javed may be named head coach as early as Monday, the day Pakistan plays Australia.
However, the PCB has now gone onto refute all such reports, asserting that Gillespie would continue to stay at the helm as head coach.

PCB strongly refutes the story. As announced previously, Jason Gillespie will continue to coach the Pakistan side for the two red-ball matches against South Africa. https://t.co/J5MYKuq368

Aaqib Javed career
Aaqib Javed’s best international performances occurred when he faced India. In his 39 ODIs against India, he claimed 54 wickets at an average of 24.64, which was 6.79 runs below his career ODI average. He faced India in four of his six ODI Man of the Match victories.
On October 25, 1991, at the age of just 19 years, Aaqib Javed scored a hat-trick in an ODI match against India. He still holds the record for being the youngest player to take a hat-trick in ODI. He played a significant role in the 1992 Cricket World Cup victory for Pakistan. At the age of 26, Aaqib Javed’s international cricket career ended too soon.
Aaqib Javed was added to the Pakistan Cricket Board’s selection committee in October 2024. Due to his new posting, he eventually resigned from his position as director and head coach of the Lahore Qalandars after eight years of service.
He has since introduced what cricket analyst Danyal Rasool refers to as a “revolution” of an all-spin attack, which he refers to as “Aaqib-ball” and which is uncommon in Pakistani cricket. Despite the initial scepticism from all quarters, this tactic won a Test series against England.
