According to reports, the Prince George’s County, Maryland police department is currently on the works of an investigation.
Paula Marlett posts response on viral video of her husband Francesco Marlett
Paula Marlett, the wife of officer Francesco Marlett posted a response to her husband’s video on her Facebook and TikTok. She reposted the video on both the platforms while posting her response.
In the post, she thanked fellow internet users for the support that they have shown towards her and her kids. She added:
Yes, I know what’s been going on. No, I am not updating anyone on this situation after today.”
She further added how she is not seeking anyone’s opinions or input on how to deal with the situation.
Viral Video of PG County Officer Francesco Marlett
In the viral video, viewers can see a uniformed PGPD officer identified as Francesco Marlett, kissing an unidentified woman near his parked police cruiser. The video shows the two embracing each other across the street from a neighborhood park. The pair then get into the backseat of the vehicle together.
According to reports, the person who posted the video on TikTok revealed that their cousin shot the video in Southlawn Neighborhood Park, Oxon Hill.
Once the video went viral, State attorney for Prince George’s County stated:
The difficult thing is that when you are picking up things on a camera, they’re somewhat one-dimensional, so you’re only seeing it. You don’t know the emotion. You don’t know the conversation, the circumstances.”
That’s why police departments have general orders on how officers should conduct themselves while in uniform, while utilizing their cruisers to prevent these types of incidents from happening but at this point, there’s no reason to believe anything criminal occurred. At this point, it’s an investigation of the department.”
PG County police department suspends Francesco
Following the bizarre incident, the PG County police department announced on Twitter that the department is launching an investigation. Meanwhile, the department posted a second tweet stating that they have identified the police officer and suspended him throughout the duration of the investigation.
Interestingly, this is not the first time Francesco has faced suspended. Reports state that Francesco has been suspended from active duty twice in the past. His first suspension came in 2016 following child abuse allegations. Francesco was accused of beating his then-girlfriend’s three-year-old son unconscious, but the charges were eventually dropped later. As of now, his records from this case have been expunged and he did not receive any formal charges.
Francesco Marlett received his second suspension earlier this year in May. This time he was accused of domestic violence but eventually returned to duty a month later in June.
