Patrick Lavon Mahomes Sr. is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who was born on August 9, 1970, in Teas, USA. During his high school years at Lindale High School in Texas, Mahomes Sr. played baseball, basketball, and football. He was generally good at playing sports. Throughout his time as a professional baseball player, he found a lot of success and played in the MLB for over 11 years.

Mahomes played varsity baseball, basketball, and football back in high school. He started out pitching only in his senior year after a teammate got injured. After graduating high school, he declined scholarship offers to play college basketball and football. Instead, he chose to play college baseball at Arkansas. He joined Major League Baseball during the 1988 Draft, when the Minnesota Twins drafted him in the 6th round.


Despite joining the team, he played in the minor leagues for the Elizabethton Twins. He made his MLB debut in 1992, starting against the Texas Rangers. During his debut, he pitched six innings and got a no-decision. He then recorded his first major league win against the Seattle Mariners. After 114 games (51 starts) across five seasons with the Twins, he joined the Red Sox in 1996. During his time there, Mahomes pitched 21 games for the Sox before joining the Yokohama BayStars of Nippon Pro Baseball in 1997.

He left the following year, in 1998, to join the New York Mets, where he made 39 relief appearances. He later became a free agent in December 2000 and signed with his home-state team, the Texas Rangers, the following year in January. However, Patrick Mahomes Sr. once again became a free agent in November 2001 and signed with the Chicago Cubs in January 2002. After becoming a free agent for the third time in January 2003, he signed for the Pittsburgh Pirates, with whom he played his final season.
