Who is Preethi Pal?
Preethi Pal is originally from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh and was born in a farmer’s family. As a child, she faced the challenge of cerebral palsy, which was compounded by a lack of adequate treatment options in Meerut. She now trains in Delhi under the guidance of coach Gajendra Singh, who is also the mentor of Simran Sharma.
In May 2024, Pal earned a bronze medal at the World Para Athletics Championships held in Kobe, Japan, and secured an Olympic quota with a time of 30.49 seconds in the women’s T35 200m event. Pal’s impressive trajectory continued in 2024 as she qualified to represent India at the Summer Paralympics in Paris, where she clinched a bronze medal in the women’s 100m T35 class, clocking a personal best time of 14.21 seconds.
